ABA: Positive Reinforcement

ABA Video 3: Positive Reinforcement

Positive reinforcement is a power tool. When used properly, you can build motivation, self-esteem, and trust. Know what to use and how and why you use it.

Please keep in mind that what is rewarding for one person may not be to someone else. So, we must learn what is rewarding to each person we are working with.

The more I read your blog the more I realize how narrow minded or ignorant I can be. It never even occurred to me that “what is rewarding for one person may not be to someone else.” And your solution to this is so sensible. I’ve always loved how sensible you are! ♥

Thank you so much, Debbie for your vulnerability in sharing so honestly! We didn’t know either. That’s what is so tricky about this. We all think we know how to reinforce behavior, but there’s so much more to it than we ever realized. One thing autism has taught me is to pay very close attention to the little things, because they have huge influence over large things!

I would love to hear from you!
